Lima

Make time for Lima.

Give Lima time beyond the airport. Explore its historic center, spend an afternoon around Barranco or Miraflores, and make room for the restaurants that interest you. We can plan a city stay before or after the rest of your Peru journey.

Plan your journey

What to see

Time well spent.

The historic center

A guided introduction to Lima’s historic center provides a different perspective from Cusco and the valley. We plan the visit around your arrival time and the interests you want to explore, rather than asking you to fit a full touring day after a long flight.

Barranco and the coast

Barranco brings art and neighborhood life; Miraflores offers time along the Pacific coast. Pair a guided visit with an unhurried meal or keep part of the day free.

Museums and the table

Tell us the meals and dining experiences you’re looking for. We’ll recommend restaurants for your itinerary and discuss reservations, availability and dietary requirements before booking. Museo Larco can anchor a Lima day.

Where we stay

Where we recommend staying in Lima.

We’ll recommend a Lima hotel around the neighborhood, room style and plans you prefer. Belmond Miraflores Park and JW Marriott Lima are options for a city stay; airport accommodation serves a different purpose.

Price on request

Explore Belmond Miraflores Park. We’ll explain the options and prices.

Best time to visit

When to visit Lima.

Lima’s coastal weather differs from the Andes. Summer tends to be brighter and warmer, while winter can be gray and misty. If Machu Picchu is the focus, choose the timing of the main journey first and fit Lima around it.

A few useful answers

Before you go.

Is Lima included in the featured journeys?

Exploration of Peru includes an airport overnight in Lima before the Amazon, not a guided visit to the city. Our other featured itineraries focus on the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Cusco. We can add a Lima city stay to any suitable route.

How many nights should we add?

Two nights is a practical starting point for a guided introduction and time for a meal or museum. Flight arrival times may make an additional night worthwhile.

Can you arrange flights?

We recommend LATAM and can book flights for you: US$50 per domestic round trip, US$100 per international round trip.
