Privacy

How we handle your information.

Plain English, no legalese. Effective October 1, 2026 · Last updated October 1, 2026.

Who we are

destinationperu.com is run by Destination Peru E.I.R.L., our company in Cusco, Peru (Calle Garcilaso 210, Interior 201), together with Inca Trek LLC, a Utah company (1414 S 600 W, Woods Cross, UT 84010) that handles contracting and payments for U.S. guests. When this policy says "we", it means both. Destination Peru E.I.R.L. designs and operates your journey on the ground; Inca Trek LLC is the company you contract with and pay.

Questions about this policy or your information: reservations@destinationperu.com, +1 801-797-2777, or WhatsApp +51 919 528 246.

What we collect, and why

When you write to us. Our forms (journey inquiry, travel advisor registration, group proposal request) ask for your name, email, phone if you choose to give it, travel dates, party size, preferences and anything you tell us in the message box. We use it to answer you, design and quote your journey and keep track of the conversation. Form submissions are emailed to our team and kept in our customer records.

When you book. To buy Machu Picchu entrance tickets, train tickets and domestic flights, Peruvian operators require each traveler's full name, nationality, date of birth and passport number, and those details must match the passport carried in Peru. We also collect emergency contact details, dietary needs and any health information you choose to share so your guides and hotels can look after you. Payment is taken by card or bank transfer; card payments are processed by Stripe, and we never see or store your full card number.

When you visit the site. Like most websites we receive standard technical data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed and the site that referred you. Our forms use anti-spam checks (Akismet). The site is hosted by Rocket.net and served through Cloudflare.

Who we share it with

Only the people and companies who need it to deliver your journey: Machu Picchu ticketing and the Peruvian authorities that require traveler details, PeruRail or Inca Rail for your train, LATAM or another airline if we book domestic flights, Inkaterra and any hotel or lodge we book for you, and our own guides, drivers and office team in Cusco. Travel advisors who book on your behalf see the details of their own clients' bookings. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

We use a small number of service providers to run the business, and they process data on our behalf under their own privacy commitments: Google Workspace (email and files), Zoho (customer records and email), Stripe (payments), Contact Form 7 on WordPress (forms), Rocket.net and Cloudflare (hosting and site delivery), Google Analytics and Meta (measurement and advertising, below).

Text messaging (SMS)

We will not share your opt-in to an SMS campaign with any third party for purposes unrelated to providing you with the services of that campaign. We may share your Personal Data, including your SMS opt-in or consent status, with third parties that help us provide our messaging services, including but not limited to platform providers, phone companies, and any other vendors who assist us in the delivery of text messages.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site, and the Meta Pixel to understand whether our Facebook and Instagram advertising brings people here and to show our ads to people who have visited. These tools set cookies and receive the pages you view and when you submit a form (not what you typed). You can opt out through your Google and Facebook ad settings or by blocking third-party cookies in your browser.

Otherwise the site sets only functional cookies: the ones WordPress needs if you log in, and short-lived caching and security cookies from Cloudflare. Embedded content from other sites (a map, a video) behaves as if you had visited that site directly, including its cookies.

How long we keep it

Inquiry and quote details are kept while we are talking and for a reasonable time afterwards so we can pick the conversation back up if you return. Booking records, including passport details used for tickets, are kept for as long as we need them to run your journey, handle any claim and meet tax and accounting rules in the U.S. and Peru, then deleted. If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will, unless we are required to keep it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or tell us to stop sending you marketing at any time. Email reservations@destinationperu.com and a real person will handle it. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you have additional rights under your local law, and we will honor them.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS. Payment details go straight to Stripe. Access to booking records is limited to the team members who need it. No system is perfect, so if you ever suspect a problem with your information, tell us and we will look into it straight away.

Children

We are happy to plan family journeys, but we collect children's details only from a parent or guardian as part of a booking, never directly from a child, and we do not market to children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
